Hi and welcome to my website Starting a Restaurant!
My name is Robert and I’ve worked in the restaurant business over 10 years while attending college. After graduating from NOVA Southeastern University, I worked as an accountant and software developer for the next 10 years.
I got back into the restaurant business opening up restaurants in the South Florida area, and quickly realized that not much had changed in the way of operations and managing a restaurant with today’s online technology. I thought to myself what a great opportunity to use my work experience as a restaurant owner, financial systems analyst, director of information technology, and financial controller to begin developing the scope for an online web application called, Kitchen Porter Tech.
The software was developed for running and managing restaurant franchises, and I thought what a great opportunity to share my software with other restaurant owners. Especially those restaurant owners that are starting a restaurant for the first time and really need to save money through understanding the business. This was the reason I launch Kitchen Porter Tech Basic to help those restaurant owners manage their operations, inventory, purchasing, and really understanding their recipe costs.
Kitchen Porter Tech software innovation won me the Miami Herald’s Business Plan Challenge and the cover of Business Monday.
Like a lot of restaurant owners, I spent a lot of time in the restaurant and very little time at home. Most of the time, my wife would bring the boys by, but that really wasn’t the quality time a dad should have with his children.
This inspired me to developer Kitchen Porter Tech to enable the restaurant owner to spend more time at home and still have keep a close eye on all operations. I think most of us get into the business because we love to cook, enjoy the business, and want only the best for our family. Only through automation will we be able to achieve all those things and more.
